A lot of people I talk to feel pretty down and powerless about the discord in the world today, and the prospect of ecological, social and economic collapse. So where do we find hope in these times...
I really enjoyed this, it echoes so many of the thoughts and feelings I have had recently around individual pepping versus community building. The later I find is so much harder. We’ve been programmed to look after ourselves and our immediate families but what we really need now is multi skilled connections, to feel held and to hold. Lovely piece anyway. Thank you. 🙏
Mo, thank you so much for this post! I had the pleasure of hearing you speak with Jack on today's call. Thank you so much for the warm invitation into herbalism & advocating on behalf of the plants. There is so much in this newsletter about community, building resilience, accepting times when emotions and feelings feel heavy – pressing on in spite of it, because of it, to seek something more connected and meaningful.
Was it pure coincidence that you published a post on the day of the chat?! I'm so happy you're back on substack!
I love that the old word for foraging has that double meaning. I still wear the necklace I bought from your website (made by one of the ladies in the tribe you spoke of.) It reminds me of how diverse our skills and knowledge are, and that we are all better off for sharing and gathering together. Lovely post. It's great to read your work again Monica.
